Are There Any Alternatives to Dental Implants Still Used?

Are There Any Alternatives to Dental Implants Still Used?Dental implants are gaining a lot of popularity throughout the country. Not only are they great for replacing those areas where teeth are missing, they're permanent and you don't have to worry about them slipping out when you smile or eat.

If you're considering other alternatives to dental implants, there are some out there. We will cover a couple of those options to find out if they are right for you.

Dental Implant Alternatives

Dentures that you can remove are an option, though many do not like to go this route because they are removable. They are inexpensive and do not require a lot of time to have done, or any surgery. They are an easy way to get the smile you want without having to worry about cost. You can get them for the full mouth or in a smaller piece known as 'partials.'

Another option is to choose a dental bridge. This is a piece that sits on two other teeth inside the mouth. The teeth on either side of the bridge have to be filed down and shortened for the ends to sit on, but it helps to replace the missing tooth in the middle. It is less invasive than an implant, though not as durable and it does require more work to take care of, unlike an implant. The two other teeth will also be permanently altered because of the filing down that has to be done to fit the bridge in.
